The Fox Cottage suggestions of what to do & where to go in the area...

We are so lucky in this area to have some spectacular places to visit and fabulous places to eat that will suit all budgets and expectations.

We have listed below a few of our favourites and those of our guests as well.  We hope you enjoy some of  our suggestions and we're always interested to receive your feedback.

Let's Eat & Drink...

For all you foodies out there, you'll be spoilt for choice!  Being situated on the borders of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, we have a varied choice of restaurants, from Michelin Star Sat Bains and John's House, to acclaimed pubs and eateries just a stone's throw away.

The vibrant and cosmopolitan town of West Bridgford has many restaurants, cocktail bars and pubs. More locally you will find.... in Wymeswold, The Hammer & Pincers, The Windmill and The Three Crowns... in Old Dalby, The Crown... in Keyworth, Perkins Bar & Bistro and The Plumtree Fish & Chip House (and take-away)... and in Wysall, the traditional Plough Inn that serves pub lunches.

You can also purchase local cheeses including the renowned Stilton from the dairy shops where it is made at Long Clawson, Colston Bassett and Cropwell Bishop. Or pop into local award winning vineyards a couple of villages away in Costock and Hickling Pastures. Not forgetting Dickinson & Morris in Melton Mowbray which is one of the oldest remaining bakers of authentic Pork Pies in Leicestershire,  and Burleigh's Gin near Oaks in Charnwood.
